Hip To Gable
H-G

A hip to gable loft conversion is made by extending the gable wall upwards to co inside with the original roof ridge line then the original roof will be reconstructed to meet the newly built gable wall.
The gable wall will be constructed with studwork, brickwork or block work which will either be rendered or tiled to match the original structure as much as possible. Planning permission maybe involved on this type of conversion due to the overall change to the outline of your roof.

Side & Front Dormer
F/S-D

A side or front dormer is an addition to an existing roof that allows more headroom and floor space to be used in your current loft or attic. Dormers are normally built within the slope of the roof allowing natural light to enter.

Velux / Roof Light
V

Velux windows are the most cost effective way to convert a loft. The main consideration for a loft conversion with velux windows is the height that is available.
Velux windows are installed flush within the confinements of the existing roof and do not require the roof structure to be altered. Planning permission may not be required for this type of extension. If height is an issue one of the other conversions may suit your needs better.

Flat Roof Dormer
R-D

A flat roof dormer will give you a substantial amount of internal space and headroom extending your current loft. The flat roof dormers are generally built to the front or rear of the property. Planning permission maybe involved on this type of conversion due to the overall change to the outline of your roof.

Mansard
M

A mansard conversion gives the most internal head height and floor space of all of the types of conversions. Both gable walls will need to be extended upward to create the mansard together with constructing a slight double sloped exterior. Adding windows to the mansard maximises full natural light / ventilation. Planning permission will be required for this type of conversion.
